If you follow me and my running journey you probably already know that I am training for and running the Eugene Marathon on May 1st in Oregon. I am a born and raised Oregonian and NorCal transplant so this race is extra special to me. I get to run in my home state and visit family while doing something I love. You can’t beat that, right?
I was selected as a Eugene Marathon Ambassador this year and am proud to represent this great race. As a perk, I get to give away a free entry to the race! Now is your chance to run this iconic race ending on historic Hayward Field – you know – where the Marathon Trials are held? Pretty cool, right?
The last time I was here was for an event with Nike Running, the Pre Classic, which you can read all about here. I had the time of my life and could feel the history on this track. I loved every moment and have been dreaming of going back to the place of running legends ever since.
Eugene Marathon Training
I must admit, my training for this race has been less than ideal. I originally went in with grand plans to get an amazing new race PR and feel super human. However, working two demanding jobs and averaging 65-70 working hours a week has made my training suffer. Not that this is an excuse. I honestly probably could have done more, I just got a bit lazy.
Now a month out from race day I am buckling down on my training and making things happen! No more missing mid-week runs. It’s go hard or go home right now!
